In an effort to keep relevant to current events, I wanted to share with you some amazing examples of web sites being used during the FIFA 2010 World Cup. There are some very creative and inspirational designs for this years games.

Twitter World Cup

Twitter has launched a mini page to keep track of the tweets from different teams.

EA Sports 2010 FIFA World Cup

EA always has the best designers on staff so it’s no wonder their 2010 Fifa World Cup page is stellar. It uses some jquery, a very nice featured graphic, background image, and a very nice color scheme.

Budweiser Predict and Win for Soccer Fans

The largest beer company in the world is featuring a contest where fans can compete in the UK for the Cup Games just by predicting and playing the odds. Nice use of gradients and rounded corners here.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

This is the website for 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa. It is one of my favorites. Look at the navigation menu, the sweet rounded corners with transparencies, and the featured content configuration is amazing.

SONY football UK website

SONY has a very stylish website for UK fans using mostly photography, large web 2.0 font’s and a very stylish jquery banner rotator.

Footballworldcup.com Travel Info

It looks like this site was setup for travel information, tickets, and scheduling. I think it was very well executed overall. The header and background graphic elements work very well.

Football Fanhouse

Another of my favorites. I especially like this because I am a big fan of using background images with transparencies overlaying them. In this we have the entire header and content wrapper overlapping one great photo of a soccer field. It looks like a pattern is overlaying the image as well. This design also uses a great combination of black text on white background while still maintaining a dark theme with the background image.

Sony Ericsson Twitter Cup

This design uses nothing but flash it seems. It keeps track of tweets in a very fashionable way. I love the concept and design.

SUDAFRICA 2010 Calender

Another amazing site that tracks the games in great detail with an amazing interactive flash element.

Help Revive Africa

An excellent grunge style design with web 2.0 typography and a great cause; bring attention to the children of Africa.

Gotta love that page made by Sony! The HD shot is good enough to captivate any site visitor - and we know that getting the attention of a web surfer is the goal of any web page design!
