I am always looking for ways to improve my Social Media Strategy. More importantly, how can I gain more organic traffic and increase brand awareness?

Your job as a business is to provide value to your customers. Social Media makes this really easy.

Here are a few tips I have learned recently that will help your online business grow with Social Media. You might gain some traffic too.

Use Facebook as A Page

Facebook recently changed their pages feature. If you haven’t already upgraded to the new feature, you should.

The new feature “use Facebook as a page” has some profound impacts on how businesses can gain more likes. This allows you to use Facebook on behalf of your page. Now your brand/page can interact, like, and comments on other groups and pages. This will increase your like count organically.

Search Twitter for Keywords

Twitter is more than a fad. If you want to take it seriously and make good use of Twitter, then start using it as a search engine. If the big G (Google) is inexing Tweets then you should be searching for your keywords on Twitter. Find relevant conversations and answer questions. In return you will increase your authority in your market place.

Use the advanced search feature of Twitter to search for late-breaking and relevant information with your niche keywords.

Control your Facebook Wall

There are multiple opinions on this but I believe you should not allow just anyone to post on your page wall. Only allow comments on your wall. This will cut down on spam and prevent someone from hijacking your business page.

Add Facebook Comments to your Blog

In addition to your current comment system, you might consider adding Facebook’s Comment System to your blog. This will let Facebook users signup and engage with other users.

The Benefits:

  1. You don’t need to worry about spam.
  2. Facebook comments use profile images which add to the “image” of your commenting section.
  3. Facebook comments can be posted on the user’s profile (win win for both blog owner and user).
  4. Increase your brand exposure and make new friends/fans

Google Alerts

Google offers this free service that enables you to be notified when someone is searching for a keyword.

Use Google Alerts to be notified when someone is searching for keywords related to your business. Also add your business name to Google Alerts.

What do you think of these tips? Useful? I would love to hear your feedback!
