Searching for a new color scheme for your website, print project, or other design project? There are a lot of websites on the internet that offer Color Palette Generation. Sites like Adobe Kuler offer some of the most amazing palettes made by professional designers from all over the world. Deciding on a color scheme just got a lot easier fool proof. Below you will find a list of some of the best generators on the web. Check them out!
Kuler is by far the best location to search for color schemes. It is maintained by Adobe and can even be accessed from within Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe programs. You can search and browse color schemes then download the ones you like. In Illustrator you can even search within the program by going to Window>Extensions>Kuler and get exactly the colors you are looking for. I absolutely love and enjoy using Kuler and in fact the color scheme for my blog was created using Kuler. Special thanks to Brent from Lunchbox Design who told me about Kuler!
This is also an excellent resource for color schemes. Much like Kuler there is a large community behind this project. Designers and publishers from around the world contribute news, tools, and resources for designers. Whether you are looking for color ideas for an ad campaign, or designing a new website or company logo, Colourlovers offers a ton of resources.
Degraeve Image Color Extractor
A good resource to match color from an image or graphic. It is rather minimal in its design but if you dont have access to high-end Adobe Programs and want an easy way to extract color from an image, then use this browser based application to upload a photo and extract a color pallete from your photo or graphic. This is neat for people who love browser based apps. There are also tons of tools and resources on the right sidebar of the website for designers.
Colorcombos is a neat alternative to the other sites and offers a variety of color combinations and tools as well. If you cant find what your looking for over at Kuler or Colourlovers, then check Colorcombos out for sure!
I really like the interface for this color generator. It allows you to easily create analagous and complimentary color schemes. There are a ton of easy-to-use functions on this website. It is a like a color wheel on steriods! You need to check this out to test and play with it!
Sherwin Williams Color Selection Tools
Finally I will end with Sherwin-Williams…yes I know it is a paint company but you can still use their color visualizer for free to help get some quick color pallets. There are some very nice color combos on their website. I highly recommend this tool as a quick reference to color schemes. It is fool proof and easy to use!
